His Words, Not Mine: Being Faithful Ambassadors of God’s Word

His words. Not mine. Today let’s start with God’s word.

“Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” Proverbs 30:5-6

God’s words are meaningful, beautiful, and true. It’s one of many reasons, every time I write a devotional my prayer is, “Your words Lord, not mine.” Do I desire to have what I write make a difference? Make an impact? Speak to someone’s heart? Absolutely. But I know above all I am accountable to Him for the words I write. My greatest hope when sharing His word is that He will be glorified.

Which, if you knew how many drafts I have saved, or fully written unpublished devos are tucked in a file or how many backspaces occur during a writing session or how many times I start writing based on one topic and what you read is something totally different…well you may understand why for the longest time I fought writing. There are a few different reasons I struggled. I didn’t believe God could use me, I didn’t think that writing was a gift I had, I questioned if I would make my heavenly dad proud, and if I’m being totally transparent, thought ‘why would anyone read what I wrote?’. All those doubts are lies the enemy wanted me to think and believe.

Thankfully the Bible shows us God is known for using all sorts of folks throughout history. Through reading and studying His word and surrendering, I’ve been able to recognize writing as a gift.  I can see how God uses me to be His ambassador for the kingdom with every written word.

Did you know that you’re an ambassador too?

God’s word calls us to be ambassadors. I hope that excites you as much as it does me!  Look at the definition for the word ambassador – “an official envoy, an authorized representative or messenger.”

As Christ-followers, we are part of the King of King’s official envoy. We represent Him with every word shared and every interaction we have. It’s why we must not only know His Word, but we must also live His word.

When we go about our day let’s be ambassadors of His Word.

His words. Not ours.

Lord, I love you and am so thankful for Your word. Help me honor you with everything I say and write. Help me be bold and courageous as I live out Your word as the ambassador you’ve called me to be. In Jesus Name. Amen.

I’m a faith-filled believer in Jesus Christ. I’ve personally experienced his mercy and truth and want to encourage others to have a relationship with Him. My husband Albert and I are empty nesters with two adult children. My heart is happiest on our back patio, enjoying quality time with family, relaxing in the sunshine, and appreciating beautiful flowers. I love the Lord and hope at the end of the race, I hear, “Well done, daughter”.
