Stephanie's Story

Growing up, I attended church every Sunday and Bible School every summer. I liked reading and learning the stories in the Bible. There was only one problem – I wasn’t sure the stories were true or God was even real. At 18, I left home. I stopped going to church and didn’t think about God much. My life was great. I had everything I wanted: I didn’t need God; at least, that is what I thought. Then, my “perfect world” came crashing down. I suffered tremendous loss and was devastated. I felt empty and alone.

I found myself kneeling, crying out to a God I wasn’t sure was even real. Deep inside, I knew that there had to be something more than this short life, and for the first time, I began searching for answers. I began searching for God.

I asked God, “God, if you are real, where are you? How do I find you”? Then, I remembered the Bible stories I had read about God. I thought, “What if the Bible were true? What if Moses really did part the sea and Jesus walked on water? How would this change my life?

So once again, I opened my Bible, and I read it. But this time, when I read it, I read it with the hope that I could find God in these stories. The more I read, the more real God became to me until one day, I believed. I knew without a doubt that these stories were not just stories, but they were the TRUTH. That they were the very WORD OF GOD.
