Most of us don’t wait well.
I know I struggle with “the wait”.
Think about being in line at the grocery store, we immediately want another register to open.
Think about traffic, we immediately get frustrated and may try to look for a way to exit.
Think about a Friday night at a restaurant when you can’t be seated for 30+ minutes, most of us leave and try to go somewhere with a shorter wait time.
These are just examples, all of which I have done myself.
And really there’s nothing wrong with any of these but the real lesson here is my attitude in the these or other “waiting” moments.
Waiting…
Waiting…
Think about the healing that doesn’t come here in the natural, most of us question why, why God?!, do we see with an eternal perspective?
Think about the apology that never comes, does bitterness take root in the wait or do we forgive regardless?
Think about the loved one who still is lost, does hopelessness settle in or do we trust Him?
Waiting…
Waiting…
In different chapters of my life the Lord has whispered to me the about waiting. Wait, has popped up in my quiet time, in the songs I’ve listened to, in my bible study, at work and even relationships.
The waiting is not something any of us look forward to. At least no one I know.
The real question though is ‘what’s my attitude during the wait’?
Admittedly I’ve grown impatient, frustrated, weary and sometimes gotten downright angry.
In those moments is when the Holy Spirit reminds me…the Lord, he’s in the waiting.
Just because we aren’t seeing or receiving what we’d like doesn’t mean God is not active and working in our waiting.
There is a purpose and plan to all God does, including “the wait”. That’s what we need to let settle in our spirits and thankfully His word reminds us too.
“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.” Psalms 40:1
“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.” Psalms 130:5
“Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” Isaiah 30:18
How encouraging are those!!
We wait, He hears our cries.
Our whole being, body, mind and soul should wait on the Lord.
We wait, what He has is in store is a gift and we are blessed if we wait.
Waiting…
Waiting…
And while we wait for God’s best, trusting that our waiting isn’t wasted, even if we don’t see the result in the natural, we can listen to a few reminders in the songs noted below. I hope as you listen, you let encouragement settle in your spirit.
Lord, thank You for being in the waiting. Help me take courage, remain steadfast, trusting in Your perfect timing and that Your plan is best. Always.
In Jesus Name. Amen.
