We all want to live with purpose—but have you ever asked who you’re really living for?
In this Living Life on Purpose for His Glory series, we’ve already explored what it means to live on purpose with intentional focus and to put first things first by spending time in His presence.
This week, we’re turning our hearts toward who we’re living for—and why that matters.
We all want to live with purpose—but have you ever stopped to ask who you’re really living for? In a culture that glorifies self-fulfillment and personal success, it’s easy to drift into a me-centered life without even realizing it.
This week, as we continue our Living Life on Purpose for His Glory series, we’re turning our hearts toward living with purpose as a Christian—a life not just lived for ourselves, but through Christ, for His glory.
Your Identity & Purpose are Found in Christ
The world tells us to “find ourselves” and “follow our hearts,” but Scripture tells us something far more powerful:
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 (ESV)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
Your true identity and purpose aren’t found in achievements, approval, or possessions—they’re found in Him. Living on purpose begins with remembering whose you are.
When Culture Pulls Us Inward
From social media snapshots to the constant pressure to achieve more and be more, we’re often nudged to prioritize self-promotion, self-care, and personal success. While there’s nothing wrong with caring for ourselves, a life that revolves around self alone will never lead to the kind of purpose our hearts truly crave.
Romans 12:2 gives us the clear path:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (NIV)
Living for Him requires intentional realignment—and that starts in the heart.
Realigning Your Life with God’s Will
Living on purpose for God means living in a daily rhythm of surrender. It means asking hard questions like:
- Are my ambitions aligned with God’s heart?
- Am I chasing visibility or faithfulness?
- Do I invite God to lead my schedule, decisions, and relationships?
But reflection alone isn’t where it ends. Once we recognize the areas that need realignment, we have the opportunity to take action—step by step, with God’s help. That’s where intentional, Spirit-led practices come in.
Practical Ways to Reset Your Focus
Here are a few ways to begin realigning your life with God’s greater purpose:
- Prayerfully Reflect: Ask the Holy Spirit to show you areas where self has taken the lead.
- Journal the Journey: Write down what you’re clinging to—and what you feel God calling you to release.
- Surrender Your Ambitions: Lay your dreams before God and ask Him to shape them for His glory.
- Reset Your “Why”: Revisit your motives behind your work, ministry, health, and relationships.

Final Encouragement
You were made for more than success, applause, or even comfort—you were made to make Him known. Real purpose is found in living for the One who gave everything for you.
Let this be your prayer this week:
“Jesus, I want to live for You. Realign my heart to Your purpose.”
